Even though I am no longer a music major, I still spend a lot of time in the music building because I’m minoring in music and have five classes in the music building.
This year, a bunch of “music majors” got together and decided to get healthier! I even wrote an article about it for the University Journal, SUU’s newspaper.
It can be difficult to stay healthy at college. Many people dread the “freshman fifteen.”
If you have the drive and make goals with friends to live better, you won’t have to worry about that at SUU.
The Thunderbird Dining Circle offers healthy options for all meals, including vegan options.
What about exercise?
Thanks to the J.L. Sorenson Physical Education Building, you have access to wonderful facilities including an Olympic-size pool, racquetball courts, an indoor track, a climbing wall, a weight room, and basketball courts. There are also PE credits you can take including rock climbing, swimming, &c. which will primarily take place in the PE building.
If you don’t want to pay for credits and you still want to learn about fitness, there are free classes!
One SUU student, Chelsea, does free workouts throughout the week. When I can’t make it to her freaking intense workouts, I go to a free Zumba class!
Most of the services offered in the PE Building are free to current students and are covered in the student fees.
I’m so glad SUU has these amenities that help me be healthier.
