I’ve Set Up Camp!

Its getting close to the end of the semester. Next week is dead week and then the week after is finals week. I myself have already set up camp. By camp I mean my own little personal study area with everything I need. I have been studying for my Human Physiology test that I have on Wednesday, writing my lab report for my Biology lab which is due on Tuesday, studying for my biology final, and working on my Medical Terminology homework.

I know it looks a bit messy but for me I know where everything is.. Since last Saturday was my last day of work at Brian Head, now I go to class come home and study most of the time. I feel if i start studying early then I wont be so stressed out for finals week. I know a lot of other people have already set up camp other places. My roommate for instance has set up camp in the printing studio so I havent seen her in over a week. Haha this is one of the fun joys for the end of the semester. I find my little camp to be quite relaxing. If i need food I can just get up and walk into the kitchen and get something. I do still find myself at the library every now and then to do research and then I find my way back home.

Yoga

This semester one of my friends and I decided to take a fun class together. The class we chose was yoga.. At first we didnt really like it because it was something different that we werent use to, but as the semester went on it grew on us and became to be really relaxing. The cool thing about yoga is it does really help you relax. I had it for my last class of the day on wedensday’s and when I left class all my stress was gone and I had a clear mind for the rest the day.

The way the class is set up is that it is a pass or fail class and you just need to attend 12 out of the 15 classes to pass. If you miss more than 3 classes you can make them up by either going to a different yoga class or you can go to the Yoga Studio in town and take a class there to make up. If you take a class at the Yoga Studio there are many different kinds of yoga classes that you can choose from. When my friend and I went we chose core yoga. This class is designed to streghten you core (ie. abs, obliques).  This was a fun experience that I got to have and part of me is sad that it is over.

Chillin On Campus

Whether its in between, before or after classes sometimes its nice to just chill with friends on campus. I know for me I spend a couple hours each day I have classes just hanging out with friends.

A lot of times I don’t feel like going home in between classes and there are many places on campus that I can go to do some homework read or just sit down and take a nap if I want. Its nice to get a chance to relax catch up with friends or just be in company especially if its been a rough day or if I’m really tired. And as you can see I have some of the coolest friends to keep me company.

Family Matters

For my birthday my mom bought me the 2nd season of Family Matters. So a couple of my friends and I got together and decided to have a fun night of watching it.

We had a blast watching it. It is definitely my new favorite show. After watching the show we went hot tubing in my hot tub that I have at my house.  Haha as you can see we just look so beautiful.

I love that I am able to just chill with friends and have a good time doing all sorts of different things. We can always find something fun to do.

Maggie Moo’s

So who doesn’t love ice cream? I know I do!! Now there are many different places to get ice cream in Cedar City, Krave (which is actually frozen yogurt), Dairy Queen, Arctic Circle, Golden Spoon, Hogi Yogi, and Maggie Moo’s. My new personal favorite place to go is Maggie Moo’s. For those of you who have never been to Maggie Moo’s its kinda like Cold Stone but better!!!

You start out by picking a flavor and size of ice cream that you want. Then you get to choose what you want to mix into it, they have a lot of different items to choose from. Last but not least you choose if you want it in a cup or a waffle cone. My favorite is to get cake batter ice cream with rainbow sprinkles mixed into it in a waffle cone. Another great thing is they have stamp cards and after buy 6 you get a free ice cream.

Looks like I'm due for a free one!

I love to come here with friends or when my mom comes up to visit her and I will go get a treat here. So if you haven’t been to Maggie Moo’s yet I highly suggest that you try it out. I bet you’ll fall in love like I did.

Harold!

Being in Human Physiology I find myself spending a lot of time this semester in the library. I have a couple friends that will study with me. This past week we have spent countless hours studying for our test that we have.

We have been working on different ways for us to remember all the material that is on the test. We have come up with games like the  with matching, writing, as well as connecting it to things in our daily lives.  One of the days when we were studying we got a study room and we heard the funkiest noise.

Harold the Library ghost

We all sat there and tried so hard to figure out what this noise was. We decided that it was Harold the Library ghost. I feel that he was either really mad at us or was wanting us to take a break from our studying for a bit and relax, to this day I will never know.

We be Steppin Big!

This past week was the BSU’s 8th Annual Step Show. For those of you who dont know what steppin is i’ll explain, its  a form of percussive dancing where the entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps.  Earlier in the school year I got the chance to learn some stepping and actually perform it at the International food fair. With the BSU Step Show we brought in crews from Salt Lake, St George, and Vegas.

The crew that was brought in from St George their name was Kalamity and they are a professional hip hop group. Here is one of the dances they did.

We also had a group of guys perform and it was their first time performing in Utah. All four of the guys are from Africa.

This is my second year being able to go to the Step Show and my favorit group is the Kappa League. The Kappa’s are a youth group from Vegas. I they always put on a good show.

This is by far my favorite event to go to on campus. I really hope that you get the chance to come to the Step Show sometime. It is an experience you wont forget.

Work Work Work!!

This semester I think that I have one of the coolest jobs ever. I work up at Brianhead Ski Resort. Every year Brianhead comes down to Cedar and will hold interviews for all sorts of different positions, like Ski and Snowboard instructors, retail, rentals, food and beverage, ticket sells and reservations. I applied for a position in the Rental shop, and I got it.

I assist people to get fitted for ski and snowboard boots as well as set up there skis and snowboards. I absolutely love working up there and its nice that my manager Chuck Drigger will scheudle me around my school secdule so I dont ever have to miss class. I end up mostly working on the weekends. Another cool perk with working up at Brianhead is that I got a season pass for only $5. Yep that’s right $5. This is also why I try to go snowboarding as much as I can. Another awsome thing is while we are working we can take ski or snowboard breaks and go out and ride for a couple hours.

I work with some really fun people and have made some great friends. Just the other day I went up to go riding with a couple of the people I work with. We had such a blast. I love that I have to opportunity to work up at Brianhead.

Party Time!!

Birthday’s are always a great thing to Celebrate. Just not too long ago it was my friend Brittany’s birthday. She has this tradition where she will get a bunch of friends and go down to St. George to go out to dinner and then have cake an ice cream back up here in Cedar. Last year we all went to Olive Garden which was a blast. This year she decided that she wanted to go to Red Lobster. I wasnt able to go down with them but I met up with them later for the cake and ice cream.

We all met at our good freind Jensine’s house and there was music a lot of fun people along with some great laughs.

Brittany’s cake was made one of the girls at the party and it had letters made out of fondant.

It was so funny because brittany got really emotional after someone had taken one of the fundant letters and ate it before she could have a taste.

I really had such a blast hanging out with them all and I love celebrating birthday’s. Cant wait for the next one.

Guitar Hero Baby!!!!

One thing that my roommate and I love to do when we take a break from studying is to play video games together. I have a PlayStation 2  at my house here in cedar and also have all my favorite games for it. I love Pac Man Fever, SSX Snowboarding, ATV Off Road Furry, and one of my absolute favorites is Guitar Hero. I know that it sounds kind of nerdy but I do like video games. When my roommate and I play Guitar Hero we have a blast.

My roommate being the artist/photographer that she is decided that we should document this moment. We decided to see what crazy different poses we could do while playing.

And my all time favorite…

This took us a while to get it just right. We both just laugh at this because my roommate kind of looks like she has frog legs and then for some reason I threw my arm in the air. This is just one of the many games my roommate and I have a blast doing together.
